In
the impressive mosaic of Montenegro’s natural attractions five national
parks have been established with exceptional natural, landscape and
cultural features which have not only national, but international
importance.
The national parks: Biogradska Gora,
Durmitor, Lovcen,
Skadar lake
and Prokletije, encompass
10
percent of the
Montenegrin
territory.
The Public Enterprise for National
Parks of Montenegro, established in 1993 in Podgorica, is responsible for
the protection and management of the four Montenegrin National Parks,
preparation and implementation of the protection programme and promotion
of the parks.
The Public Enterprise is a member of the
Europarc
Federation, an international organization of the national
parks, based in Graffenau in Germany, with over 400 members
from 40 European countries.
